25 theatre students took home Superior scores at the North Carolina Thespian Festival, a weekend-long event at East Carolina University. Students competed in categories ranging from Musical Theatre to Theatre Marketing. Two students, sophomore Laurel DeWolf and senior Malina Coovadia received Critics’ Choice awards for their Short Film and Props Construction, respectively.
In addition to individual competition pieces, Jordan also travelled with the fall musical, Water for Elephants, to the NC Thespian Festival, where the cast, crew, and pit performed two successful shows to thousands of students from across the state!
The Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble attended MPA (Music Performance Adjudication), where both groups received straight Superior ratings (the highest rating possible). They played pieces including Illumination by David Maslanka, Lanigan's Ball by Ed Kiefer, and National Emblem by E.E. Bagley.
Advanced Orchestra also attended MPA , an important evaluation by expert adjudicators, where they received Superior scores, including a 99/100 in sight reading.
Lastly, Advanced Chorus, or Falcon Song, attended MPA and brought home Excellent scores, as well as receiving a perfect score on sight reading. Attend the chorus concert in May to see the work all the chorus classes have put into their pieces!
