This year, Jordan is founding a chapter of the Science National Honor Society. Mrs. Finger is leading this effort and is excited that students will “have a really cool opportunity to shape this society.” According to Mrs. Finger, “Typically, the organization is for students who would like to pursue scientific majors or careers after high school, but here at Jordan, it’s for students who enjoy science and challenging themselves by taking upper level science courses.” Eliza DeRousie, a junior, says that she is “excited that [science students] have something like Rho Kappa.“
Members of the SNHS are required to complete service hours related to science. These include things like helping science teachers, tutoring students, or doing environmental trash pick-ups. This club is only open to juniors and seniors with at least a 3.0 unweighted GPA and 3.5 unweighted GPA in science courses that are taking an upper-level science course this school year. Qualified juniors and seniors can apply for the Honors Society by December 19 using QR codes from any of the science teachers, or found on flyers in the hallway.
