Pep Rally Debacle Explained, Do-Over Next Month
“Pep Rally 2.0” will take place in October after the first attempt, as part of homecoming, was rained out on Sept. 18. SGA chief Ms. Wescott said there are two potential dates for the rescheduled pep rally, giving students another chance to come together and show their school spirit.
During the first try, students were walking out to the football field
to support their fellow Falcons when a
light sprinkle quickly turned into a downpour. Within minutes of Ms. Wescott announcing over the microphone not to panic, and that the pep rally was going to continue, she then, not even a minute later, announced that everyone must report back to their 4th period class.
Ms. Wescott said she was watching the weather closely, with an eye on the radar. “It came out of nowhere!” she exclaimed when asked about the unexpected storm. There was major disappointment amongst Jordan’s students and staff. However, the chaos did not stop there.
While students were headed back inside, the fire alarm went off, causing another interruption to an already crazy afternoon. The alarm was not caused by an actual fire, instead, a beam detector in the cafeteria had been activated, according to Principal Taylor.
“This is bonkers!” a student in the front parking lot said while huddling under an umbrella waiting after the fire alarm went off.
What started as an attempt to celebrate school spirit quickly turned into what could only be described as a “freak accident” or a “comedy of errors,” by Ms. Wescott, with everything that could go wrong seemingly going wrong. Despite the unexpected weather and the false fire alarm, students and staff had to make the best of the situation and return to classrooms. However, it is confirmed that the Pep Rally will be rescheduled, and it is planned to take place sometime in October.
