This year there are 19 new teachers here at Jordan High School. Additionally, we have a new assistant principal, front desk receptionist, athletic trainer, and athletic director. The reasons for this turnover are numerous and mostly unknown, although some of it can be attributed to the new school built in Wake County, Felton Grove High School.
In this turnover, the math department was hit especially hard. There are 6 new math teachers this year: Mr. Dangaiso, Mr. Amano, Ms. Murphy, Ms. Foret, Ms. Dalido, and Ms. Eubanks, some of them even from other countries.
The first few weeks of school, returning math teachers were stuck teaching other classes during their planning periods as new teachers were arriving, according to Mr. Valder.
In the arts department, there are two new teachers, chorus teacher Ms. Brown, and technical theatre teacher Ms. Klausner. The new eLearning teacher Mr. Michaels has jumped into the Jordan community with lots of excitement.
The science and social studies departments both got a few new teachers, and the English department got one, Ms. Scherer. Finally, the Spanish and agriscience departments each got one new teacher.
