Hurricane Helene Hits DPS

Durham Public Schools has just announced that school will be canceled on Friday, September 27 due to the looming threat of Hurricane Helene.

The hurricane became a Category 4 this evening with winds measured at up to 130 mph on the western coast of Florida. Tornado watches and warnings have been issued in Florida and Georgia as the storm is moving inland. Expect lots of rain for the next two days as Helene makes her way up the east coast.
