Jordan High School’s 2026 fall sports season kicked off with an opening game of Boys’ soccer, at Franklinton High School. When asked about the team’s growth over the season, varsity captain, Afton Vorenkamp reflected on their progress: “I think, like, as a team, our attitude and chemistry has gotten a lot better…Oh, and our scoring and shooting skills, too.”
Girls’ volleyball has been relentlessly training and practicing for their weekly games. Evelyn Greene, a sophomore, highlighted their best performance, saying, “I think against Felton Grove, because it’s when we played most as a team and we worked together a lot.” Varsity holds a 4-10 record, while JV sits at 1-8.

Girls’ flag football is making history in its first season as an NC sanctioned varsity sport. As of late September, the team has played 2 games, starting off their season with an 0-2 record.
Field hockey has shown grit through a brutal game schedule in which the varsity team has played eleven games so far with a record of 3-8, while JV holds a record of 0-6.
Even though official competitions didn't start until August, summer training began all the way back in June for some sports, and the summer’s heat has been a consistent burden on our Falcon Athletes. As temperatures climbed all the way up to 103° F, and frequent heat advisories moved training and practices indoors. When asked about the hardest challenge during the hot early-season training, play Xavier Perkins noted the challenges, stating “We don't go outside as much, so we gotta do practice inside. It's kind of harder for us to learn everything we need to learn inside.”
Despite early season weather challenges, football has high hopes of going far this season, and they are trying out new ways to make their players even better. Varsity boasts an impressive 4-1 record, and JV remaining undefeated at 3-0. Outstanding players include sophomore Jason Ortiz, ranked 25th in the state for total kicking points (26 total), while senior Ja’Corie Douglas ranks 13th in the division with six touchdowns. When referring to the team's ongoing focus, Perkins added, “We try to take every game seriously… Everybody's trying a new position. So we’re trying to get everybody comfortable playing new positions… just to get people more well rounded.”

Cross country is looking well suited for the nearing regional meet. Head Coach Murray expressed his optimism on the trajectory of the team, stating “I think we need to pick up one spot [in the conference] in the girls. But I’m seeing a lot of great progress. Great racing right now... It is a favorable region to get the boys and girls to the state meet.”
Finally, Girls’ tennis continues to fight through a competitive schedule, currently holding a 4-10 record in a tough region.
